Remastered DVD's

What is everyone's thoughts regarding the remastered DVD's that have been enlarged to fit on a widescreen TV? It's one of the greatest TV series ever but I for one wish that had kept the original aspect ratio.

I found I got so absorbed in the episodes right from the off that I didn't even notice what the picture ratio was like. So it made no difference to me

Funny I have old VHS copies I made back in the early 80"s (with my high end $1000.00 4 head Mitsubishi stereo VCR when it was shown on our local independent station KTVU channel 2. surprisingly, they are still in great shape and play great on my 72 inch TV. I also have the updated 30 anniversary DVD set which is my favorite. I recently had a chance to view the HD version, and although the quality is excellent I don't particularly care to this version. To mkuch is cut off in order to fit the wide format.. You miss a lot of the background scenes in both video and still pictures.. If you are new to the series, you won't no the difference so you will enjoy the great quality and color when those colored scenes are shown. So in the end for those like me who grew up with the series in the 70's, have VHS copies or the the great 30th anniversary DVD's will enjoy the original broadcast quality much better. but as long as a new generation are exposed to this great learning series, it wouldn't really matter, will it? As long as they just learn.

While I was extremely disappointed with the original DVD release from 2010 with an enhanced aspect ratio I recently found that the TV series has been re-released as of 31 Oct 2016 on BD and DVD that feaures the ORIGINAL aspect ratio. I've just sold my original set to fund this newer release. Gotta get it.
