Wasn't Michael Landon kind of a dick?
I've heard or seen little hints that maybe he was not the super nice and wholesome guy that he portrayed on the small screen.

shareA few hints but few are around to confirm what has been said in recent years. His Bonanza co-stars such as Lorne Greene and Dan Blocker have been gone for decades. Most of the LHOTP co-stars worked at a time when mouths were kept shut and in general gossip was discouraged. The go for broke approach such as George Takei on William Shatner is more the exception than the rule.
shareTakei is a whiner, still holding a grudge over perceived slights that allegedly happened nearly sixty years ago. He needs to grow the F up and move on.
shareYes, he was. He was a small man with classic "Short Man Syndrome" with Narcissistic Personality Disorder on top of that. And you can tell by LH's storylines that he was sadistic too. But oh how he laughed, that overindulgent laugh. I guess that was supposed to cover his major failings as a human being.
shareHe didn't just laugh, he guffawed. Oh and what a guffaw he could produce. Playin fiddle and guffawing loudly. That's what life is all about!
shareI must refer you to this post then:

I don't know, the only one to say anything remotely negative about him is Karen Grassle and apparently they made peace with each other after a time. No one else has ever said anything negative...have they? Well his own son made a move that perhaps portrays Michael in a somewhat negative light, but even in that story peace was made at the end...if I recall correctly. Have there been any biographies written about him?
shareWell, I can't speak for him as a person.
What is documented is he smoked like crazy, drank like crazy and womanized like crazy.
So yeah, Charles Ingalls was a bit of stretch for him.
