Who smelled worse?
Mr. Edwards or Bunny the horse?
It's close, but I have to vote for Edwards.
Edwards smelled like a mix of sweat, whiskey, prostitutes, Charles tears, tobacco, rotted meat, shame, lemon vebina, coffee and small pox. The horse only smelled like horse crap. Edwards for the win.
shareLOL, no wonder Grace left him
shareEdwards didn't look like he showered regularly. He always wore that nasty ass sweat-stained hat. With his bushy and unkempt beard. And he just looked like reeked of body odor.
shareMr. Edwards, he looks like he hasn't bathed in decades!

Did women back in the 1800s even wear underwear? And if so, how did they get the blood stains out?
shareWomen wore drawers and petticoats under those long-sleeved, ankle-length dresses. Plus an apron depending on what type of work they were doing. As far as the "monthly problem" goes, they would use an old piece of cloth or rag which would be laundered and reused.
Men wore long pants and long-sleeved shirts with a vest or jacket. The middle of summer would have been a miserable time for both sexes.
Yep. Hence the term "on the rag."
shareI've thought it'd be fun to go to a saloon with Isiah... drink whiskey and play cards. But yah, I have thought about the reek factor. (Of course, saloons back then probably had many front-runners. I'd welcome the smell of booze and tobacco in that environment!)
sharesjbradford (Sat Sep 24 2016 18:37:59)Harriet Olsen. Just ask Nels, I'm sure when she spreads 'em, he just about dies from the odor. share
