Anyone Notice How Bad Tom Skerritt's Acting Is

In the Devil episode? Absolutely horrible...he looks like he's just barely reading his lines.

I've never noticed and I don't know if this is related, but I read somewhere that Skerritt has absolutely no recollection of doing that episode.

You are quite correct, bookman. In Mark Dawidziak's excellent book, The Night Stalker Companion, Skerritt was quoted as saying that he really had no memory of that show at all. He explained that during that time period, he was doing a lot of guest roles on different television series, many times back-to-back-to-back (as far as actual shooting, we can suppose), and he just didn't remember having done that one.

Lara Parker, on the other hand, could relate every little detail of her appearance in The Trevi Collection. Go figure.

'The Devil's Platform' was a very effective, creepy episode. Tom Skerritt may have been going through the motions,OR portraying a soul-dead politician accurately!

reply

I agree. It's one of my favorite episodes.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

I'm four years late,

I liked the series and episode so much, I credit Skeritt for weaving his attitude into his character. Looking back, he was someone who bores easily and isn't tolerant of anyone standing in his way. He wasn't a good person, obviously, and enjoying fortune too quickly.
