THe Energy Eater

One of the weaker episodes but I still enjoyed it. The only episode where you never actually see a "Monster".

Anyways, this ending baffled me. How did Kolchak defeat this enemy? He is attacking it with a Fire Extinguisher and then collapses in the middle of the mist
and wakes up in the hospital. So ...what did he do, in anything to defeat the entity?

You don't see a monster in "They Have Been, They Are, They Will Be . . . " either. There is a spaceship, but no visible inhabitants. And they leave Earth without being stopped.

I don't think he does defeat Machemonedo. It's been a while since I've seen this one, but at best Kolchak holds it at bay, though it is still lurking.

It's really the hospital administration ordering the building flooded with that freezing agent that defeats the entity. Kolchak was just sort of helping the process along spraying the fire extinguisher into the fissure (after he got his pictures, of course), and in the process, loses consciousness from being overwhelmed by all that C02.

That's right. Kolchak wakes up in hospital bed after having been overcome.
