Werewolf episode is a giggle

Dat makeup.

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

reply

Yeah, this is one where they definitely should have kept the monster in the shadows. The ridiculously bad makeup puts quite a dent in an otherwise good episode.

reply

It would be cool if improved makeup effects shots of the werewolf could be added to this one, much like they did with the enhanced effects for classic "Star Trek" episodes. Would be worth spending the money to eliminate that one glaring flaw in this excellent episode.

What didn't work was Eric Braeden having to make the wolf noise himself.

Dark Shadows was nearly ten years old by then, and was a daytime soap opera, but when they had the werewolf on there, they had a growl put in over the werewolf.

I have no idea why a primetime show ten years later with a werewolf in one episode couldn't have managed the same thing. It may not have made it decent, but it would have at least made it better.

We hated that episode when we were little.

And another odd thing is that the werewolf in Dark Shadows (which had a budget that made this show look like Ben-Hur) had a make-up job light-years ahead of Braeden's monster.

reply

Yes, real werewolves look NOTHING like that!

reply

I hated everything about this episode --including the "Love Boat" looking sets.
I did like ONE thing: Nita Talbot; my favorite character actress of the late 1960s & early 1970s. Her interactions with Carl were great. She would have made a GREAT co-star on the show!

"In every dimension , there's another YOU!"

You didn't find it exciting and new? You didn't want to go on aboard? I guess they weren't expecting you.
Spenser with an "S", like the poet.

Werewolves are not real to begin with
