Attention 'Kolchak' board: starting ep.1 Friday, January 6th

Greetings, "Kolchak: the Night Stalker" board. We are THE SAGES OF THE SINGLE SEASON, a small group of folks that like to watch old, preferably cancelled, one-season shows from the beginning and working all the way through to the end. We watch one show a week on Friday and then discuss over the next few days. Anyone here who is interested, we would love to have more people commenting on the episodes with us.

We will start episode 1 on Friday, January 6th, 2017. We have never failed to finish a show. The previous shows we have watched are:

The Time Tunnel (1966)
Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974)
Night Gallery (1969) (Season 1)
Voyagers! (1982)
The Lone Gunmen (2001)
Wonderfalls (2004)
Tales of the Gold Monkey (1982)
Firefly (2002)
Odyssey 5 (2002)
Pushing Daisies (2007)
Journeyman (2007)
God, the Devil and Bob (2000)
Day Break (2006)
Dark Skies (1996)
Brimstone (1998)
The Middleman (2008)
Caprica (2009)
Invasion: Earth (1998)
Planet of the Apes (1974)
The Prisoner (1967)
The Prisoner (2009)
Total Recall 2070 (1999)
Earth 2 (1994)
UFO (1970)

Come and join us and let's have some fun. Word of caution though, we can be pretty harsh in some of our criticism of these shows and have ruffled feathers of some pre-existing board members in the past. We mean no harm just calling it the way we see it, we also tend to disagree with each other on whether it's a good episode or not. And we may also introduce a great deal of off-topic conversation, being a group based on the free exchange of ideas, but rest assured that we'll also provide several small reviews for every single episode, something that was only done a few years ago, when a previous version of our group visited this board.

Anyway, looking forward to episode 1 to see what we have gotten ourselves into this time. See you on the 6th.

Hey madp, I'm not a member of the SAGES, but I enjoy your group. You've drop by 2 of favorites, Planet Of The Apes and Prisoner(1967). Here are 2 I think your group might like THE FLASH(1990) and THE PERSUADERS. Just for food for thought. Anyway, you'll enjoy Kolchak.

Spenser with an "S", like the poet.

Never seen the Persuaders but The Flash is a good call! Please, join in!

Well, thanks for the tips. Make sure you stick around so when we're done with Kolchak, you can nominate these two shows and vote for them as we select the next one. It'll be a lot of fun!

Join our group and you can nominate and vote for those shows when we continue to the next series.

I'm little to busy, but I really enjoy reading your the Sages's posts. Your group is very respectful and has great criticism. And some funny stuff. Truth be told, if I joined your group, I'd be the village idiot. I'm a fan of the sages and find you entertaining. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for your reviews. You never disappoint.

Wow, thanks. We couldn't hope for greater incentive.

Well even if you don't join up, feel free to leave comments on each episode review.

Thanks. I might, no promises. If I did, I just hope I could add something to the subject.

Just a little curiosity. This is actually the second time our group visits the "Kolchak: the Night Stalker" board. Well, at least another version of the SAGES OF THE SINGLE SEASON came here in 2008. Unfortunately all traces of that activity have been erased, but I found this archaeological relic linking us to our distant ancestors. It's an entry on the "The Night Strangler" (movie) board.

You might want to check that.

I remember and it's rather startling to think it's been 9 years. How many of you are original members of the group, and do you plan to revisit all the shows you've done in the past?

I did my best to bump the discussions of each episode, but, sadly, the thousand message maximum was eventually reached in here and all those reviews were wiped away. It was an unfortunate loss.

It was in 2008 originally. I am the one who's been here the longest, and I joined later at the end of Wonderfalls, four shows later. None of the original members remain. But sometimes dtmuller reappears or makes a comment or two and goes back to lurking mode.

The fact we chose a show we'd already, in theory, seen, is a coincidence. None of us have seen this show. Following this logic, all shows up to Wonderfalls can be nominated. Later shows would have to be negotiated a lot. Personally I have interest in seeing The Lone Gunmen, and perhaps Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies again. But each choice follows a rather complicated democratic process, so we can't tell things ahead.
