Did anyone else think this:

In late 1973 / early 1974 TV Guide announced that The Night Stalker would be a TV series. BUT they did NOT say what the FORMAT would be.
So in my little 6th grade head; I presumed that the series was going to play out like this:

Janos Skorzeny would be brought back to life (er...death?) and leave a trail of vampire slaves/victims all over the USA as he moved around and tried not to be caught. Kolchak would follow him from town-to-town and city-to-city and would always be a few steps behind Skorzeny. In the meantime- Carl would do battle with various people newly transformed into Vampires . Along the way, MELODRAMA would set in ( a little kid Carl befriends becomes a vampire, a guy in a traveling rock group becomes a vampire, a Nun becomes a vampire, a Tony Vencenzos ex-wife becomes a vampire, etc.)
ANYWAY: I was THRILLED when I found out it was going to be Monster-of-the-Week (even though McGavin was not crazy for the idea and it wore itself tissue thin by cancellation time!.
Anyone else ???????????????????

Since THE NIGHT STALKER and THE NIGHT STRANGLER involved two different creatures, I rather imagined the show would be a monster of the week type. I've never been a fan of vampires myself (or zombies, until iZOMBIE), but I admit your scenario has some intriguing possibilities.
