The end is nigh! We all know about the disaster that has befallen us. All we can do is run! It was good while it lasted.
If you would like to continue the work of the "Sages of the Single Season" and exchange comments and reviews about Kolchak until the very final episode, here's where we can meet. There are three alternatives.
2) I've joined this other forum, and it may (or may not) be what we're looking for. I']ve posted a message on the "Board Requests" board. I'm "madpac". http://thegotboard.com/
3) I did the same in this forum. Again, I still don't know if it's the right place for us. I've posted a message on the "I Need to Know" board. I'm "madpac" as well. http://imdb2.freeforums.net/
I hope to see you guys there.
Updating: I just fond this one, and it has exclusive forums for specific shows. https://www.themoviedb.org
I tried searching for IMDB alternatives. Most of the sites only covered movies. The closest was Rotten Tomatoes and it was looking promising but their forums seemed to have been shut down a long time ago. I've sent a request to join your group on facebook my initials are DR. I had a look at the other forums you've posted on. The GOTboard looks very similar. I guess I am holding out hope this might not happen or someone out there sets up something similar. Maybe Rotten Tomatoes will reactivate it's forums. I've posted on IMDB's facebook page and on the feedback forums. I don't think it will make a difference but at least have to let them know I don't like the decision.
I don't recognize any monikers from when I was last part of the group, except for yours. Looks like the original contributors have fallen off into the void somewhere and some new blood has grabbed on to the moving train.
I petitioned Kolchak a bunch of times, and The Prisoner, should have hung around, I noticed you're doing one and have done the other. Oh well, two I really wanted to do.
I don't really see any other places for something like this, there is a board a few others who follow specific programs say they may migrate to: http://imdb2.freeforums.net I haven't signed up yet, it looks like it may be too much of a hodgepodge of subjects.
Wonder where the old gang has gone off to? I think you found the group around "Tales of the Gold Monkey?" Time flies.
Of all the shows covered since the group started, my favorite was "The Lone Gunmen." Still re-watch episodes of that once in a while.
"Man without relatives is man without troubles." Charlie Chan
Yup, I was there are the beginning, or close to it, Time Tunnel, Night Gallery. Some of the choices were TOUGH to get through, but this band has always managed. Glad to see it made it this far. I hope IMDB's ill advised decision isn't the end.

Paul_Cornelius did "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." with us a few years ago, but then he just disappeared from the IMDb. Funny- and disappointing- how some folks just seem to fall off the map like that.

Oh, you must be referring to The Ancient Ones. Those are older, wiser, more mysterious and even grumpier than the Sages. They've vanished but still look out for us...
Seriously now. Charmedwon666 gave up when we chose The Prisoner, as there were two shows he said he would never watch: The Prisoner and UFO. Ironically, we did UFO a little later. Wltcbtge (can't remember the spelling) gave up in the middle of a show without warning. And dtmuller was the last to resist. But he lurks a lot, so he might be reading this.
Anyway, I've opened this Facebook group and singed in the two forums I mentioned. Let's see if one of them is appropriate. The Facebook group will serve as a place for discussion where we can do things exactly the way we want at least. From there we can plan our transfer to happier pastures.
I hope you stay with us.

I found the group when they were doing "Wonderfalls," but I just made comments at the very last moment. Then they chose "Tales of the Gold Monkey" and I had problems with it so I quit. I came back for the next, "Firefly" and stayed ever since. Charmed stepped down as moderator a few shows later and asked me to take his place.

This is definitely one of my next choices, since i didn't catch it in the original run. This is also one of the reasons we're doing Kolchak, since it was covered before my time.

Got a message from one of the originals that the band was still around.
I hit/run on IMDB, it's what I have time for. It is good to have a place where you can "talk back" to some of the ridiculousness that passes for entertainment these days.
Getting rid of these boards will be the death of IMDB as we've known it. I doubt very much it'll morph into something half as good. I will never contribute anything to the Database here again, why bother unless they start paying for submissions?
I've always wanted to return to the fold, but can never seem to find the time.
If it was any good they'd have made an American version by now - Hank Hill
Farewell, friends. This run, for the past 9 years, has introduced me to some really good shows I'd never heard of. (OK, some seriously lousy ones as well!) Great entertainment and great fun with the discussions.
If they should ever change their mind and bring back the forums, let's plan to meet where we began, on The Time Tunnel board. Until then, the only parting thought that is appropriate: I hope we meet again...somewhere, along the infinite corridors of time!
As an outsider of the Sages, but a huge fan, if we had more people like you, the IMDB would never close down. You were a class act! I always enjoyed your reviews of episodes, they were thought out and very well constructed. I will you miss you most of all Sages. To quote from Keats...

Wow, thank you, sir, for your kind words. I'm glad our activities had a good impact on some people. Even though I've always been concerned about the amount of off-topic conversation we've carried on, I can say we always tried to make a positive contribution to boards which, otherwise, would have a very low traffic.
I don't know what's going to happen next, but in case you're interested, you can always drop by my "Sages" Facebook group.

I hate to say this, but I'm still 20th century. No Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Sorry. Keeps my life simpler. Best of luck Sages and keep up the excellent work. And who knows, maybe the 21st century will come a knockin' and I'll see ya then.
May I replicate cind5's comments, no Facebook for me, social networking sites I keep well clear. Still think IMDB2 is worthwhile but if the majority of Sages go with facebook I'm history. Good luck guys it's been a gas!! My email is; [email protected] Would appreciate letting me know I you go someplace else after facebook. See ya 'round take care.

IMDb v2.0 is OK, but they have no forums for specific TV shows and I got no reply from the administrators. It seems a bit messy and it's run on free software. http://thegotboard.com is a little better, more organized, I got a reply from the administrator saying he would consider adding the forums we need. https://www.imdforums.com/ seems like an excellent choice, it runs on private software (so the admin is investing in it) and he gave me more detailed explanations. It seems to me they would be agile creating new boards if we needed. And https://www.themoviedb.org/ looks great and already has boards even for unknown shows, or cancelled ones like Kolchak. That seems the best alternative.
The Facebook group would be more of a place where we can exchange opinions and plan our next steps.

I've just signed up - seems ok, a viable substitute.
I think users are also allowed to add other content (such as cast members - which are lacking on the Kolchak page), but perhaps there will be a large exodus from IMDB to TMDB, and all those new users will help them out.
Right I've signed up for an account and put the first discussion thread on the Kolchak page. Feel free everyone to head over there get a feel for the place, test the showers, bounce on the bed etc. First impressions are good, it would be the closest in terms of layout and I like it's design.

That's great. I just talked to one guy in the recently-formed Sages group on Facebook and he also told me about TMDB. I'll post something there soon, and may even start posting our episodes there as well as here.
I was surprised that site welcomed me in Portuguese. I think it's because it's my system default language.
Updating: As I said, the administrator of thegotboard is very active and offered to help us. He sent me a message saying he would create a board for us (thegotboard.com/thread/124/sages-single-season) with subfolders for each show. Also something to be considered.

Sad day indeed to see them x out the boards. Liked the post better then many of the shows we watched. Charmedone or (Agent Stone as I know him)is still around I text with him from time to time. As far as Paul C the last I heard from him he was living in the far east but thats been years ago. Good luck everyone will keep in touch via email from time to time.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I see the curtain is closing and the fat lady has sung. I can't believe this has been going on sooo long. When wlc and I started this thing it was just a silly little lark to entertain us plus we loved the time tunnel and many other irwin Allen shows. I enjoyed all my years moderating and chatting with you boys and girls, sometimes we were quite stubborn on our views and positions and sometimes we were in complete agreement...(I'm looking at you Nero and you Moon mouse) When the time came to step down thank goodness Madp had come along, I could not have asked for anyone better to step in carry this group forward, he has done a commendable job and now I can't ever even imagine anyone else was ever in charge. My personal favorite shows were the time tunnel, Kolchak. My most surprising show that I never thought I would like was Odyssey 5 and it was also the show that hung us out to dry on the cliff hanger that was never resolved. The two shows I had the most trouble getting through were Caprica and Dark Skies, and I believe that the show I picked that almost killed the group was The Middleman (i still love this show). But now it is time to leave as my rambling has become annoying. I will leave you fine folks with this, If you like it, its good. If you don't like it, its bad and if you have an open mind it's bearable. Good luck to all and it was truly fun.
An appearance from the Ancient Ones! What a nice surprise. Glad to hear from you again. See, guys, I told you they existed!
Tome all shows bring good memories, even the ones I had problems with like "The Middleman." Except maybe for "Tales of the Gold Monkey," since I bailed out of it.
I don't know what the future has in store for us. I hope we meet again in one of life's forums out there...
I don't check here as much as i used to. If i had known we had circled back to Kolchak again I probably would have pulled those off the shelf and watched a few. If I can figure out where you guys are going to wind up I may still watch the rest. though there are some clunkers on the way..... the stupid Indian bird one comes to mind.
I have gone back and looked at some of the forays into TV land I participated in (some boards have so much traffic that our entire run is still available to peruse), the only problem I have is in believing it was SO LONG ago.
Can't let you go without a hearty thank you. The bands dissection and observations of the victim show de jour was many (too many) times better than the actual fare we were following.
Also glad that madp took the reins, otherwise the current incarnation wouldn't exist and the originals would have faded into the ether long ago. Thanks bud.
I will try and join again for a future show or two. Time is the enemy,as I find that I don't have any to spare for guilty pleasures.

I've signed up to not only IMDB v2 but also imdforums can do no more. Probably neither will be chosen !! Should have chosen facebook then no one would want to go there . Seriously though there's a lot Brits migrated onto these boards that I recognise so I'll stick here. Hope to see you someday.
I've signed up to several forums, but people seem to prefer TMDB, so that's where I'll be. I hope you change your mind and meet us there as well.
Facebook looks like a place where we can get info and share messages & ideas around. I think we need a place to keep up contact and the Facebook page is very easy for that. TMDB looks like the place we go to post the actual reviews etc.

There are so many alternatives cropping up. I've got 9 possibles bookmarked stemming from IMDb's horror forum alone, and have signed with three of them. Two of them wouldn't work for us, TMDb looks promising. Really reluctant to go back to Facebook, but I will as necessary. Haven't heard of imdbforums until just now.
