They Shoot Fonzies, Don't They?
Why is this episode titled this way?
It's about a dance marathon. Where does any shooting come into the story and who are "they"?

If you had seen They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), there would be no mystery!

Thanks. I guess that explains it.
shareThere was also a Gilmore Girls episode centering around a dance marathon titled "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?".
The title from the movie has to do with one of the last lines of the movie.
Jane Fonda plays a suicidal young woman who goes to Hollywood to become an actress, she meets a young man (Michael Sarazin) who is trying to become a director. They enter an all-night marathon and during the marathon Fonda's character talks Sarazin's character into shooting her to put her out of her misery. The policeman asks him "Why'd you do it, kid?", he responds with "She asked me to". The Policeman says "Well you're an obliging bastard aren't you? Is that the only reason you got?". To which Sarazin says "They shoot horses, don't they?" (refering to putting horses out of their misery so they don't have to suffer anymore).
I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.
Who knew the Fonz was a fan of Weezer?

The best part of that episode was Richie and his "Yowsa Yowsa Yowsa!"
