Bullets add to the realism

A lot of people complain that the robots cannot or should not have bullets. plot hole of epic proportions, etc, etc.
The park was to be as realistic as possible, and was also as advanced as possible. Whizzing bullets would only make it more so. The robots could easily be programmed to hit the floor/ground or framework in the buildings. Or just be slow on the draw. Their guns are battery limited as they are fired by machinery, rather than the guests. Perhaps they have another fail safe to prevent guests from picking one up and using it, but this is never touched on.(only the sensor of the guest version)

Of course this leads back to the people that also say the park could never operate this way. But without hitting a snag, why couldn't it?
The Titanic was allowed to sail with watertight doors that did not extend to the deck and without enough lifeboats. No one said a thing until after the sinking. In fact the watertight doors were hailed as a huge safety feature, yet they had a tragic flaw in the design. The rudder was too small too, and you can go on, and on.

Same is happening here. the virus exposes the flaws in the Delos systems. and the tech upgrades have made the robots more dangerous than ever.

The perfect storm of events lead to what happened.

This idea is a major theme of this story.
This and that Yul Brynner kicks @ss.
