So why do the Robots have real guns?

Even though they're not supposed to shoot at anything a guest could still kill a robot and take it's guns and start shooting guests. I mean really. And why can't a guest kill another guest with a sword in Medieval or Roman world? Something's fishy with the security around there. And do people have to pay $1000 a day to be in jail at Weatworld. Law suits I tell ya'!

I was just thinking the same about the guns. All guns should have been the safety models. Of course, they could have been as well affected by the malfunction.

As for the swords - yes, a guest could have killed another guest, but not as easily in an accident as with a gun. So this is not too much out of line IMO.

The guns were real with heat vision so thame robot missed you. I think that was what they said. Been awhile.

Interesting viewpoints on the Gunslinger's gun. My opinion is he had the same Westworld gun as he always had and the system malfunctions changed the guns programming causing it to kill the guests.
Also I agree that the temperature changing colder could certainly have an influence on the systems issues although not only did the wild west have its cold spells but it just might have seemed a little more unpleasant that morning after John and Peter's bar fight binge.
