When Katie says " You have a lovely girl Hubbell, why don't you come by for a drink sometime..." or something like that.. Is she referring to the girl she just saw him with or their daughter? Someone brought this up on this board and it never occurred to me that it was their daughter - always thought is was the woman he was with. Changes the end for me if it was their daughter - Anyone else?

She says, "your girl is lovely, Hubble, why don't you bring her for a drink when you come", sounds to me like it is the girl he is with.

Somehow I always took it to be his daughter, but this interpretation might be her intent. I got the impression when he asked about what kind of father her husband was he didn't see his daughter, and they both seemed to know he wouldn't visit.

I never thought about it that way, Gemgess. Certainly puts a different spin on that scene. I always interpreted it as Katie referring to the woman Hubbell had just introduced her to.

Aha! Just watched again. It's "Your girl is lovely Hubbell - why don't you bring her by for a drink when you come?" "I can't." "I know."
