Pan and scan, no extras, shoddy Vipco DVD.

The VIPCO DVD is something of a response to recent fans, but if it had been given the Anchor Bay gold treatment it would have been a bolder, better package. Instead we have a pretty poor pan-and-scan version of the jaded VHS print and no good features or extras at all. 1:2:3:5 ratio presentation is the only way to watch this movie. I bought the VIPCO release, but I hope Anchor Bay wrest the rights from them and put their version of the package out.

Apparently you can get 'From Beyond the Grave' in the States since last week, but not here ... even though it's a British film! I'm dying to see that one again.

What I find bizarre with VIPCO is how they package all their flicks - no matter what level of horror they contain - as if they were all video-nasties. 'Vault' is a great, fun low-budget effort played for a lot of laughs. Yet my copy has a cover that suggests It's the Most Horrifying Thing In The World Ever AND trailers 'Cannibal Holocaust'! Odd.

I'm not gonna knock their style, or their quality, they may not have hte money to obtain quality prints, or the techncial arsenal to restore them.
