Same old Vipco print all over again!

The new UK DVD released on Monday this week by Cornerstone Media (Cryptkeeper's Collection) is the same poor print that Vipco released about eight years ago. I mean, couldn't they have got access to the lovely BFI remastered edition which Film 4 showed several times since last autumn? Luckily I have that recording. Also, Cornerstone Media have been dishonest; on the back cover they state the ratio is 16:9 but it's not, it's 4:3 (full screen)! Lying bastards! Leave this one alone. My review is on hmv.com (where I'm just about to return it to for a refund):

I held out incase the new edition was the BFI remastered, but after seeing a lot of negative reviews.

I just bought the Vipco edition for a fiver from Amazon new and used. It is a crying shame that this movie isn't treated with the loving respect the BFI has showed it.

If the Cryptkeeper Collection is anything like their poor shoddy release of the classic horror movie, then I won't bother purchasing any of their future DVDs.

The BFI remaster it, it's shown first on Film4 to great fanfare, then on parent channel, Channel 4, each time with the BFI remastering credit at the end; unlike Hammer's "Dracula"(1958) it didn't get a theatrical re-release (to be fair it was a less deserving case), so why not press up a small run on DVD and sell it to the fans who want it?!

The best uncut version available is an off-air recording from digital TV. I think it might even have been on Channel 4 HD...

And where's that "Dracula" DVD and Blu-ray? Yes, I said Blu-ray!
