Does anyone know the location of the street Daniel Massey's character walks down in the opening story 'Midnight Mess'?

Kind regards,

Garrett

I watched it tonight and was wondering the exact same thing...I'd love to go there now and see what it's like, and whether the restaurant called "Restaurant" is still there.

Anyone?

It was just a set wasn't it, mocked up street - I could be wrong, but that's what it looked like to me.

I keep telling my wife that I'm sure its The Vineyard. I went to the school there in the 70's (76-80) although that got moved up the hill long ago now. The restaurant was a laundrette when I used to go there.

Is The Vineyard the name of the street or the restaurant?

The street. I don't know if it was ever a restaurant, they may have dressed the front to look like one. As I said, it was a laundrette when I started school there but that was three years after the film was made.

Thanks for this! I was wondering just the same thing, and had guessed either Richmond or Kew!

The Vineyard, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Richmond, Surrey, England, UK (as stated in the 'locations' section on the main Vault of Horror page)

The location section has only been updated with that information dangermouse since we posted it in this thread.

You're welcome :)

The brief sequence that shows Tom Baker's character arrive back in England where he walks across a zebra crossing outside a train station is shot outside St. Margarets Station very close to Twickenham Film Studios.

......I was going to mention the St margaret's location...( only 5 mins away from Richmond aswell ) with the old Express Dairy grocery shop where my mum used to stop off & do some shopping..

..as my sister is 4 yrs older than me she was there looking out of the window when she saw the Beatles being driven in to the studio...

..its actually still a grocers ( diff name ) & that scene looks pretty much the same today...
