Horace Sprout (spoiler)

I always wondered whether there were two heads - the real one and a false one. Or does Lionheart take the severed head from Srout's and puts it on the milk bottle outside Devlin's house?

That always bothered me too. I assume we are supposed to think that it is real, and Lionheart went back for it later. It would have made far more sense if Lionheart had taken the head straight away and put it outside Develin's place, so Sprouts wife would wake up next to his headless body (as in the play), but I guess they wanted the payoff of the head falling on to the floor when the maid came in, which admittedly is a great moment.

I think the best explanation is that Lionheart is hanging about and picks up the head and sticks it on the milk bottle.

I'm Big Ethel and don't get any ideas, I'm normal!
