How Gory…?

Can somebody tell me how gory “Theater of Blood” is? Apparently it was quite graphic for the time. Is the 15 Certificate UK DVD uncut?

I think you'll find it tame by comparison with movies of today - I grew out of watching gory films a long time ago becuase I found modern efforts too gross for my taste. I liked the old movies where the effects were more restrained and where plot, acting and reality were more important than the gore.

It was graphic for the time, but even then the quite dark and sometimes silly slapstick humour offset that quite a bit.

Checks on a DVD comparsion site I use a lot reveals that the DVD release has not been cut from the original theatrical version.

Hope that helps.

for the early 70's ot was pretty gory but there are far more gory films from that time....also hit the 80's this film became rather tame...there is some gore but it's hardly a splatter film

Wake me up before you Monster A Go Go

It certainly was gory for a British Horror film from that period. We see so much graphic violence on screen these days that TOB now seems rather tame

I found the force-fed poodle pie scene involving Robert Morley to be the most gross part of the film.

More than the scene in which Lionheart trims the bloody human heart down to a pound even?

Oh, how I wish I could believe or understand that!

Agree! Sure it's not up to today's standards, but there's a gleeful nastiness to it that has a bit of an edge. Basicly, it's like a remake of Price's The Abominable Dr. Phibes, but with an R rating.
