Question for film buffs!?

Anyone know which newspaper the character George Maxwell (played by Micahel Hordern) wrote for ?

The Daily Telegraph

Indeed not. In the very opening scene of the film, George ( Hordern ) is seen moaning about the cuts made to his review whilst brandishing the "Financial Times". None of the other critics are allocated to newspapers in the film, whilst the stage production identifies them all by journal and, since they're all trapped in the derelict theatre together from the word go, there's now a lot of "shop" talk amongst them about their various prospects, offers and animosities.

What did you think of the stage version?

It was absolutely brilliant. Broadbent was splendid, perfect for the role.

As Hordern reads the newspaper during the opening scene, have a look at the name of the removal van company which can be seen crossing the bridge in the background.
