Butchered (No Pun Intended) Version on Comet TV
Comet TV seems to be running a lot of Vincent Price right now, both Abominable Dr. Phibes movies last month, and now Theatre of Blood. As ToB is one of my favorite movies, I was delighted to see it on Comet, since Comet seems to be pretty good in not editing beyond what is required and won't stretch a 70 minute movie to 2 hrs with commercials.
But recently, the editing part seems to have changed. What aired as ToB last night was a mess. Unless I totally was not paying attention, the whole first scene was missing. After the opening credits rolled, the police had already found the body of the first critic in the building (the murder and the pre-scene with the critic and his wife discussing her premonition was gone). Another notable scene missing seemed to be the part where Diana Rigg, in disguise, first meets Harry Andrews (and he gropes her!) before she lures him to the playhouse and to his death.
Did any one else notice this? Am I as mad as Lionheart?
Comet had just picked up Flash Gordon for airing, and I know that was butchered, so they either have a new policy, or they have someone up there who has no idea what they are doing with the edits.
