Plot hole: How did Les Harmon travel to Shaw's place so fast?

Kid Twist plays Les Harmon, who supposedly works at the Western Union office (110 South Wabash), from where he supposedly holds up race results just long enough to call the pay phone at Klein's drugstore (660 South Marshall) to reveal race winners. Soon after Lonnegan places the $500,000 bet, Kid Twist comes downstairs from the rented room dressed as Harmon, sits next to Lonnegan, and says, "Sorry, I couldn't wait. Everything going all right?" Lonnegan responds, "You got nothing to worry about." But how could Harmon have traveled from 110 South Wabash to 660 South Marshall in so short a time? Wasn't Lonnegan surprised to see him? Lonnegan might have asked, "How did you get here so fast?"

reply

Usually they would jump in a cab and say "and step on it!" in those old timey days. Maybe it wasn't that far away.

Also, Lonegan was from out of town and was probably unfamiliar with Chicago's street geography.

Well, Lonegan picked up Hooker from outside the betting parlour and drove him to the Western Union office to meet with Twist. So he would have known exactly the geography involved.
