Question about ending

At the end when Gondorf and Hooker walk out aren't they afraid they might run into Lonnegan? Lonnegan had just left a few minutes earlier thinking they were dead, it seems Lonnegan could have easily spotted them walking away.

I feel this is a fair question. After all, after Kid Twist raises the flag then pushes a long single for the arrival, he comes down to talk to Lonnegan personally so there is nobody in the lookout across the street anymore to lower the flag.
I guess they just trusted their work enough to know there was no way that Snyder was going to stick around.

I agree it was illogical, but it made for one of the best movie ending exits ever IMHO!

He who conquers himself is mightier than he who conquers a city.

"You should have seen the rag he lit under Lonnegan."
Lonnegan and Snyder were long gone.
It was safe to come out.

Lonnegan was hightailing it away from what he believed was a double murder scene. More realistically, perhaps the characters would've behaved a little differently, but in my opinion the suspension of disbelief doesn't falter on this account.
