I can see a remake. Dead prez should do the soundtrack. greenlee should update his novel. No suggestions for actors/actresses yet, except for Chiwetel Eliojor, and Spike Lee loosely affiliated with the project. Just rambling , don't pay me no mind.
I hate to sound like a kiljoy but there's no way a film like TSWSBTD will remade especially knowing the trouble they had filming and distributing it in '73. Filmakers (black and white) are to damned spineless to take on a subject matter like this nowadays.
you could remake it with someone like wesley snipes
I think he could handle that. Have people in the crew like dead prez..immortal technique.. a few other rappers. up and coming actors... some people from the wire like hassan johnson..michael williams. jamie hector
I really see someone pulling this off.. but 2008 style
Jeffrey Wright would be the best man to play FREEMAN. However, with all the terrorism going on in the world, America would be too afraid to make this. Watching this movie didn't influence me to pick up a gun and kill whitey, it made me do what I wanted to do now which is to take their methods and skills on success and use it against them. Hey if JAY Z can do it, so can I.
Why should they remake a movie that still works, almost nothing has changed since then so this movie is still as modern as it was when it was released. Plus the old cloths and the music just adds to the charm, if they remake it with Converse/Fubu/Cadillac product placement and some cheesy hiphop it will just loose some of it's essence.
I agree. Why does Hollywood think they can improve upon a great movie? 90% of the re-makes I have seen have been inferior to the original.
Of course, we know the answer is that they can't make money from an old movie, no matter how great it is, but a new movie, copying an old idea will make money if the the re-make stinks.
If it were remade it couldn't be done by Hollywood, and it wouldnt be made to be a blockbuster. The issue and message needs coverage in modern times. This film and book are largely forgotten, and sadly america is asleep (unlike the charged climate of the late 60s and early 70s) and many seem to think gloss-over political correctness and a puppet president have solved the problems of racial injustice and economic warfare.
How about an original work by some young Black film maker instead of a second hand/second rate version of the work of someone else? Sam Greenlee, the auteur of "Spook," recommends as much on the DVD.
