Thousand years? Mankind is lucky if it makes it another hundred years. We are not long for this earth. Seriously. Forget science fiction, and look at reality. On all fronts. Population wise, ecologically, geo-politically, economically, the prospect of real terrorism. We are in end-times. And I'm not talking hocus pocus religious rhetoric, I'm talking facts.

I'm 46, living in a major US city. I know that in my lifetime I will most likely experience gas, food and water shortages, eventual system failures and a nuclear event somewhere in my country(most likely my home city). The writing is on the wall. Believing anything else is just wishful thinking.

You might watch Wayward Pines, a TV series with Matt Dillon. He wakes up in Wayward Pines, Idaho, after leaving Seattle while investigating a disappearance. Slowly, he finds out that they are now the remnants of civilization and that he and others were cryogenically frozen long ago. Outside the valley is nothing but death and destruction. Its based on a series of books.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

Depends, if the West can shake off the third world and especially the Middle East and Mexico dragging it down to their level I see no reason to believe that something as positive as Star Trek type society in a thousand years. I would say in general things are better than they were a thousand years ago. The population growth, wars and other calamities are not coming from the Caucasian people.
