Perma-spoiled by pop culture
The iconic line at the end is so often referenced and parodied in pop culture that it really seems impossible to watch the movie without it already being spoiled, which is too bad.

shareI had never seen the whole movie before today either and although I had seen bits and pieces when referenced in other shows or in compilation specials I still watched and enjoyed it very much. It really holds your attention and really makes me wonder if this movie will prove to be right in a couple of years. It really makes you think.
sharenot really, not really at all -- considering how few have actually seen/heard the ending in context of the actual story.
but yes, the idiot culture chooses to laugh at headlines and never read said story.
It's because society sucks.
shareYup. Already know what Soylent Green is thanks to *beep* cartoons and sitcoms.
But still going to watch it now.
It isn't as bad as how many of the covers for the various DVD, BD, VHS, BETA? etc releases for Planet of the Apes that has the Statue of Liberty on it which was the huge plot twist at the end of the film just plastered on the cover for all to see.
shareWhile it is a shame that the ending is spoiled, one may still watch the film and experience Heston's character finding it out for himself. It's a good movie.
shareIt certainly iconic but I knew of the ending (Thanks Simpsons) well before I saw the movie so it took something away when I finally saw it.
shareThe original trailer spoils the movie and the "reveal" pretty well on its own.
