old United Artists intro to Sleeper is gone :-(

For years on my old VHS copy of Sleeper, I watched the film begin with the blank screen and the slowly turning "UA" logo, followed by the musical crescendo, standard United Artists intro for many of their movies, I think. In "Sleeper," this old UA intro cut immediately to the opening piano music and we saw a blank screen for the first few bars until the movie title appeared onscreen the moment the main musical theme began.

Now, though, on the new DVD, my fears that it would be changed were confirmed when I played it and saw that the old UA intro music is gone, replaced by a newer one that actually intrudes over the theme music in the time that was once the blank screen. The theme doesn't even begin with a sharp, clear note anymore, it just fades in.

I realize that it might be silly and overly purist but I truly prefer it when films keep their original movie studio intros, even if the film itself is not changed. Why oh why don't studios keep their original studio introductions? I think the movie "On The Beach" may once have had the same UA intro, and of course now on the recent DVD, it is not there. Who can I complain to about this? GGRRRR

Is there a DVD in existence with the old UA intro graphic and music? thx

During those first few seconds of black right before the title "Sleeper" pops up, there was originally the old "United Artists-A Transamerica Company" logo. The only Allen film to retain this logo on the DVD release is EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX* (*BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK). You can see that original logo there.
