Similar to a novel!

Hi all, I haven't seen this movie, so what I am writing is just in regards to the synopsis/user review.

This storyline shares some similarities to a novel by H.G. Wells titled "When the Sleeper Wakes", (The Sleeper Wakes) a very interesting story and at some points a bit confusing to follow.

Which interestingly enough could be seen as trivial/comical which this movie seems to portray.

So just wanted to point this out, just in case anyone wanted to know where the original story may have come from.

Here's the wiki link if you want to know a bit more.

Happy reading :)

and its occurred to me that there is also a similarity to The Uncertain Midnight by Edmund Cooper

Well, the general story IS loosely based on the H.G. Wells' story. lol This is listed in the movie's trivia section. I'd post a direct link to said trivia item but apparently the permalink option isn't working since the boards were "upgraded".

You can make a case that it's related to Washington Irving's "Rip van Winkle", too. Ben Mankiewicz points out both references when TCM airs "Sleeper" and he gets to introduce it.

I could have sworn Woody Allen stated openly and outright that the movie is a parody of the Wells novel. The title is a dead giveaway anyway.
