Dennis Farina

said on 'Dinner for Five' that this was his favorite cop movie because it captured the essence of a police locker room.

Only thing is, I recall only one scene of the seven-ups in the locker room, and it wasn't exactly comic or even dramatic.

Great 70's movie though with some great characters like Spinell and Lynch.

If memory serves, Farina was a cop in Chicago before becoming an actor, so it might not necessarily have been something funny or intense or anything like that, that would catch our eyes, as 'civilians' -- the 'essence' might've just been something that clicked for him since he'd actually been in police lockers and been around cops.

I know the movie clicked for me on a number of levels in regards to essence and realism, simply from being a little Bronx girl and recognizing so much of the streets and neighborhoods I grew up in and hung out in - Fordham Road, Pelham Parkway, Riverdale, GW Bridge, Westside Highway, etc.

And I still get a little freaked out anytime I catch the car chase where the kids are playing in the street and they show one young girl's face spinning towards the sound of the oncoming car. Speaking of cars, nowadays the movie clicks for me in other ways, especially when you consider the car chases are real, not CGI!!!
