IN PRAISE OF ROY--R.I.P.

Roy being gone now is a true sadness to me..Solid actor, standup guy.

The media will mention JAWS, and THE-FC in his passing--both classic faves of mine.

But for ME-Roy was a standout star in The 7-Ups. His 1st real breakout movie as a star pre-Jaws. His obit will most likely glance over "52 Pickup", but a brilliant underplayed performance by him as well. That movie and 7UPS his best, IMHO.

A chiseled mug that only Bronson came close to in 60s-90s movies. But like Bronson--no 'prett-boy'..Roy--a jersey native--exuded the basic street-smarts and sensibilities of someone familiar with life 'east of The Hudson"..Many times tried to be faked, but easily discernable.

Him and Tony LoB (WmE GradyHS-Bklyn)in this movie--after he shot him in TFC--classic scene along The FDR by Schurz Park.

Roy--you'll never be forgotten.

Agreed, he was a wonderful actor.

There will never be another professional like him. Like Christopher Reeve, he is truly missed!

Roy Scheider was a 70s baddass , and don't leave out Marathon Man.
52 Pick-up, ( mentioned earlier) from the mid-eighties is another Scheider classic.

I adored Roy back in the day. I think he became sad after the early to mid '80's, not happy with the roles he landed.

He probably could have done better, but lots of actors feel that way. He had a very solid career amongst the ups and downs.

As for his physical prowess most don't know he was a very sickly kid. The end result came from rehab and isolated workouts.
