A Celebration of Roy Scheider

"February 10, is the 1-year anniversary of Roy Scheider's death and while Hollywood is still mourning the loss of a great actor,- we're pleased to announce that there will be a big event held in his honor on April 4th in Los Angeles with all of his celebrity friends, "A Celebration of Roy Scheider." In addition, he also has a film coming out posthumously that will be completed this summer called "Iron Cross" - they're going to preview the trailer of his film at the event. The event will then be followed by a series of screenings throughout the month of April of Roy's most famous films."

Should The Seven Ups be included?

reply

Roy was one of my acting heroes in the 1970s and I fortunately had the opportunity to say so to him during a chance meeting in 1990. His loss last year was a blow to the acting community and can only be said to match that of the drop-off in quality film roles he wound up being offered or doing after ALL THAT JAZZ. It's inexplicable, as he still was a brilliant actor, demonstrating as much even in a guest turn on LAW & ORDER: CI toward the end of his career. Naturally, films that would have to be screened at a tribute to him would include French Connection, Jaws, Marathon Man, Sorcerer, and All That Jazz.

What a guy he truely was. He is sorely missed.

I'm watching the classic police thriller The Seven Ups right now. He was brilliant and outstanding in that 1974 film.

It's definately making me mourn his passing even more.

I wish I had a Wayback Machine like Mr. Peabody and Sherman. I'd use it to go back in time to prevent his death.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Scheider. You are sorely missed. 
