After the car chase where Buddy's car slams into the truck, what happens to Bill Hickman? Does escape, get arrested, or blown away by the cops? I have only seen the chase on youtube and its very good.

Bo, Hickman's character, is shot dead right before the end by either Buddy (Scheider) or Barilli (Victor Arnold).

He gets blasted by Barilli's shotgun in the rail yards by Joe Spinell's home.
