What about other "Serpicos"?

by other "Serpicos" I am using his name as a metaphor for a very rare black sheep type of person who has such good morals that they cannot be corrupted or tolerate corruption AND are part of a group who are supposed to be honest, the "good guys". Things like this must happen elsewhere.

For example in the middle east it is very common for cops to rape women they arrest. What would happen if ONE person was a cop in this country and was morally pure and refused to tolerate that.

Whenever you have a corrupt police force or similar government operation there is a danger that there will be ONE totally honest person in the group. How do the corrupt groups handle this? I know how it was handled in this movie (try to kill him) but what about other situations?

Think TRAINING DAY?

Or what if you have a crazed hate group, maybe Muslim Terrorists and ONE of them comes to his senses and realizes he is surrounded by insanity and tries to stop it?

What happens to the other "Serpigos" of the world?

All that stuff doesn't happen in real life!! There's no corruption, nepotism, theft, inmate abuse...

Don't you watch Blue Bloods?? Every cop goes home for Sunday dinner without fail, thePolice Commissioner knows every cop on the job (in NYC, no less!) and they always do the right thing because the PC commands respect! Even hardened criminals come away with better attitudes. C'mon-- don't you know this? Tom Selleck told me so...

(I know a few cops from working with them in the school system. There really are a few good ones, who won't accept bribes or favors. And those who wouldn't dream of skimming money or committing a crime themselves. I cringe every time I turn on the news and see another incident involving police officers. But I get a bit happier when I see stories of a good cop buying food for someone that's hungry, or helping a child. I have to live with the thought that there really are heroes out there. I'm just praying that those stories come to us more and more, and the bad ones are less and less. We can always hope....)

My understanding is that the New York police department was incredibly corrupt.
