1)Zharkov is supposed to have served with the Thalman Brigade.Was there really
such a unit? I haven't been able to find anything on the net.
2) Does anyone know what song was playing on the old phonograph in Zharkov's
apartment?

That battalion fought on the side of the Republic, of course, not the rebels led by Franco et al.
