He was 60 when he made this movie and he's running and rolling and jumping off *beep* and what not. Definitely a bad mutha.
Watch this movie. Don't be put off by Winner; he can direct when he wants to (see The Mechanic).
Wow! you appear to know your stuff!.....Lancaster made 2 movies with Winner around this time.....yet, anyone in the UK seems to regard Winner as a somewhat has-been (he always goes on about his "best friend" Brando etc etc)....yet, there seems to be a time when he actually made OK movies (see 'Lawman' for an AMAZING cast!)....nice to know Winner could churn out OK movies back then.

shareI watched Scorpio again today and was impressed all over again how Lancaster did those stunts himself. Especially when he's at the construction site and rolls down that dirt embankment and slides all the way to the bottom. From what I've read in Gary Fishgall's Lancaster biography, Burt dreaded and resisted the idea of getting old, so he would do as much of his stuntwork as possible.

Lancaster was a circus acrobat, before making it in the movies. He brought along his arialist partner--Nick Cravat, to films, too.

Winner isn't entirely a hack. He's a good director(but not a great one) who's taken questionable projects.
He directed the original Death Wish, The Jokers, The Games, Chato's Land & Lawman. I enjoyed all of them.
Scofield was almost ALWAYS wasted, in film.

Lancaster is one of my favorite actors, but I had never seen this movie until recently. The chase scene on foot is one of the all time greats, and BL is truly " The Man ". Everything about the scene is awesome, but I recall the part where he grabs onto a beam and swings himself up onto a platform. I'm only 45 and I couldn't do this !
Great movie, largely in part to BL.
And yet it's still named after the other guy.
