i have only seen the remake of this 1973 made for t.v. movie and was wondering if the original was better or basically same thing just different era...

I have a soft spot for the original out of nostalgia, but the remake is worth checking out.
shareI liked the remake quite a bit, but it's an entirely different film. It's got CGI and a lot of the story has changed. Plus, I think they replaced Lloyd Bochner's character with a love interest for Shannen Doherty.
I say check it out. It's fun.
It's also cheap. If you go to amazon.com and do a search for:
DVD "Evil Places"
you will find it and it will be one of the four movies on the DVD. The quality isn't the best but it's watchable, and a trip back since I remember this as a TV movie (I was 12).
I saw the remake a few years ago and just watched the original. I didn't really like the original. I like the remake better.
