Hi there! You already know me from the comments on your blog, but I guess I will re-post what I wrote about your review on this movie.
I simply adore “Robin Hood”. Maybe it can’t be considered one of the studio’s real masterpieces, but I still like it very much. I will agree with you though that Skippy and the other kids took up too much time. Then again, I hardly even remembered them when I started reading this review, so I guess they didn’t bother me that much after all. And yeah, maybe they could have done more with Maid Marion. But still, I have no real complaints about the ending like you do. Disney didn’t have the courage in the ’70s to go along with the alternative ending (they probably would have done it in the ’40s or in the ’90s though). This movie had already been rather dark for a children’s movie, showing how the people had to suffer from the greediness of the villains. So I guess we have to just enjoy this movie for what it is.
