Great movie, but I call 'Bull *beep*

I doubt that the events of this film or the book is 100% accurate. The scenes after the three break out of prison are so far-fetched.

I have the book and wanted to read it, but I lost interest when I found out it was very likely fabricated making Papillon a great liar in addition to being a petty thief.

Well, it IS a good story. I'm sure many movies
are even further removed from the actual events
they were based on....

If you took your time buying the book you must've known that it's fiction based on real events?!

I've yet to read my copy of the book, and I feel it's a must before seeing the film.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the book and it's amazing! I love it!

Does OP honestly believe there is a single film (or perhaps even a book) which is 100% accurate to true events? Truly this seems to be a thinking of a child more than an adult.

I love it when people say something is far-fetched, especially when they've never been in that situation. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the OP has been to South America, let alone French Guiana.

My sig: why do almost all movies on imdb have a "worst movie ever!" thread?

I think you should take it for granted that 99% of movies that are supposed to be based on actual events are wildly inaccurate.

To date, the only real life based movie that I've read about that is very true to real life events is Goodfellas.
