Shouldn't this be on the top 250 ?

If not, then what should? :D People who voted godfather there in the first place should also like this piece of film, but hey, great film to discover for the future generations even if not in the top250 now.

It absolutely should be in the top 50.

It's currently #241. There are 58 movies with a 8.0 -- including Papillon. So it could easily go up or down while still remaining at 8.0. I just voted it 10.

vote it a 9 if you want it to rise.. 9s are worth more than 10s in the imdb rating system

Its 1000 times better than SHawshank which is one of the most overrated films on imdb

Is now, but I'm not thinking for long since it's only a few above 250. I remembered this film fondly and as a classic, but after buying and watching it my opinion changed. It has not aged well with overlong scenes and a score that is excessive and smothering at times. I realize that I've likely been somewhat conditioned by current film-making styles, but don't see it affect my perception of many other films from this time period. Kind of a bummer.
