to the point of causing pain ? The first few times I saw this I hadn't noticed how this runs throughout the movie. Off the top of my head, I recall at least 3:

Wife
Baxter
Lieutenant Cartwright

Any others ?

Yes, I think those 3, but I think he squeezed their hands, not wrists.

He squeezed the wrist of his wife. It was definitely a recurring theme.
