Confusion and other views

I don't know why but forget about Baxter maybe I have to see this movie a dozen times till I get it. But you ever think that Johnson is the pedo. And he has been involved in a whole bunch of guilty sex activity with violent scenes thrown in. The way he finds the girl and his bizarre behavior from the get go which made me un easy. The way he thinks his wife is ugly and how he fantasies on perfect beautiful attractive women and ... girls.
What did he do with his spare time. And his violent psychotic nature toward everyone and after the rape and Baxters murder. I mean it's written all over his character... Or was he innocent and going insane.

That's sort of the point, it's left to the viewer to decide. The film did want to focus on how macho men like Johnson deny their vulnerability, and that sooner or later that suppression could quite possibly destroy them. Guilty or not slimy Baxter is a catalyst for Johnson's breakdown and his final but tragic self realisation.
