Did Anyone else feel sory for Johnny Boy when he got shot in the neck?
shareI liked Johnny Boy, so yeah... I did. And while he was asking for it, I don't think he really deserved it.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
I was more stunned by how much blood was pouring out of him lol
shareBig Tough Guy ehh? Big Tough Guy...
Scorsese made a likable character that didn't do honorable things. He owed BIG money. After most of the film, you think he's just broke and scrambling for cash but in reality, he has ZERO Intention of paying anyone back, especially Michael. They were at the age where life takes over. You don't just catch beatings anymore. While I LIKE him, I think he got what was coming to him. All part of those Mean Streets
If every character got shot in the neck or anywhere else, I wouldn't feel sorry for them. Was there even a sympathetic character in this movie?
shareI agree that there wasn't a sympathetic character in the entire movie. Theresa was the closest but she was too annoying by the end. Last night was the first time I have seen this movie from start to finish and I was disappointed.
shareI finally caught this movie almost exactly a year ago at MOMA, and I actively disliked it. I was surprised as I mostly like early Scorsese. But everyone in this movie rubbed me the wrong way. I seem to be in the minority though!
shareFunkystew says > Did Anyone else feel sory for Johnny Boy when he got shot in the neck? No! Given his lifestyle and his flagrant disregard for paying his debts to thugs, I was surprised he hadn't been dealt with before. The movie is called Mean Streets. I know Charlie was looking out for him but he was the only one. His uncle had warned him to steer clear of that little loser. I thought he would have gotten a sever beating, maybe s broken limb or two; something to send him a message, long before he was shot.
Perhaps Michael would normally have started with a warning, but after Johnny Boy pulled a gun on him and called him a jerk off in a bar full of people it became about more than money.
Reality is the new fiction they say, truth is truer these days, truth is man-madeshare
It is not terribly uncommon to feel sorry for people who get shot in the neck.

Didn't feel sorry for him at all.
