how did the money get returned

I saw this movie last time and there was a jump in the film at a key moment and we missed how the money got returned to Augustine. We went from the scene where they were all taking off their clothes to the scene where Marlowe is happily walking out. Can someone tell me what happened?

Thanks

thanks. If we don't see her return it, how does the money appear? As I said what I saw jumped from semi-naked men to counting money. However it came, I figured it was Mrs. Wade that returned the money since we saw her driving away just afterwards.

One of Augustine's men comes in and says he needs to see Augustine, and it's urgent. Augustine returns and gives Marlowe the $5,000 note, saying he can keep it for being honest, and Marlowe correctly guesses that the money has been returned by 'my fairy godmother.'

Hi

You didn't miss much. It just happens that the money appears just as they are about to cut his ...(cough)... thing off.
