Sterling Hayden and the Cat

The two things I love best about this film.

Yes Hayden was so good in this Hemingway-type character. I just wanted him to beat the little doctor so much.He was excellent too in The Killing, Johnny Guitar and even The Godfather(around that time) And the cat was excellent in his most memorable roll as Jonzie in Alien, as well(I'm not sure if I'm joking about this one, actually).

Both were brilliant here. It's too bad they didn't have any scenes together.

So what do you think became of that cat? My theory is the yoga girls next door baked him into their brownies.

And I assume Coury (was that the spelling?) cat food was just made up for this film. If not, it would have been great product placement (not that Altman would succumb to that, and not that Marlowe could track down the product to place).

The cat disappeared through El Porto del Gato, perhaps a sign that he/she was headed for the border.

There, daddy, do I get a gold star?

In our home, we always have a cat that looks like that cat.
