Sister E

I thought Joan Goodfellow was terrific in the role of Sister E. She was both lovely and tragic. But I never got a chance to read the novel. The cost of the book on EBay is outrageous. And I'm wondering what Sister E's real name is. Is E supposed to be short for Elspeth?

I was surprised to see who's novel was used for this film....Sue Grafton!

I'd love to get a copy of the novel. But apparently it's out of print and next to impossible to find any copies.

Yes, that does make sense. She's Elspeth, Junior, and they call her Sister E to avoid confusion. But, I don't know, for sure.

The novels that movies sometimes are based on usually go into much more detail about the characters. I know that Sue Grafton wrote the original novel, but apparently it's out of print and next to impossible to find. I would bet that the original novel says what Sister E's true name is.

WoW. $1500.00 for a copy of the book on biblios.com.

Right. And I don't know why it's out of print or why used copies are so expensive either. Apparently, very few of the books were printed. And the fact that Sue Grafton is a popular author probably makes the original copies more expensive also.
