The Laughing Policeman (1973)
Now this one I enjoyed, San Francisco in the 70's, plus you see the great character actors you grew up with; it was great until the end where it became predictable and stupid, like they ran out of ideas and it was rushed.
Still, a good 70's rent.

By then I had the impression that the people who made the film were showing us a San Francisco they thought was not going to last long (like Weimar Germany in the late 20s) and the plot was the macguffin, rather than the grease gun.
