San Pedro
The mention of the California town, San Pedro is interesting.
Nicholson mentions San Pedro in talking about his first marriage and how that didn't work out. But, this whole Detail story takes place on the East Coast. Of course, the Navy did have plenty of installations in California.
San Pedro - I believe - also is a major plot site in Jack Nicholson's classic, Chinatown filmed several years later.
Robert Towne wrote both Detail and Chinatown.
Was that an "in joke" between Nicholson and Towne?
