is it wrong......

that I find Jesus in this movie extremely sexy?

I mean, it sounds wrong I know, but Ted Neeley is one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen!

reply

Mary Magdelene did so I guess it's ok for you, too. None of this is in the Bible though.

Yes, because there is so much in the bible regarding Mary Magdeline's truest heartfelt feelings about Jesus. Not you, nor anyone else, knows how Mary loved Jesus. If I am wrong, which verse specfically describes Mary's exact and completely platonic feelings about Jesus. I've read the NT many times and don't recall any verse detailing how Magdeline didn't love Jesus in "that way".

..Or are you just throwing down your dogmatic perspective on the rest of the world?

I see nothing wrong with finding Jesus, Ted Neely or even Judas as sexy. Why anyone would want to deny god's gift of sexual attraction is beyond me.

I don't need you to tell me how good my coffee is. .

I notice you didn't quote a specific passage like gabby_bm asked for that would back your statement up.

"man you are so lost. you need to read the Bible and a clearer view of Jesus cuz you obviously dont have a clue. dont try to put a "liberal" view on the Bible, thats just wrong."

Why is that wrong? Conservatives have been perverting the Bible to fit their political beliefs for years. Are those of us on the other side not allowed an opinion, hmm?

reply

Actually, my view is pretty clear, as it isn't clouded by the speculations and dogmatic interpretations passed down for centuries. If you want to believe your way, that's fine by me. Your religious beliefs don't affect mine in the least.
As far as a "liberal view on the Bible" goes, I certainly believe that approaching the Lord with a free will and a free mind is much more valuable to Him than a simpering, cowardly fraidy-cat who will blindly believe the gospel means whatever Pastor Thump-n-Pump thinks it means

I'm holding everyone to a higher standard- a standard much higher than my own

LOL! I like that last line. It's right on the money.Actually, if you read ALL of the text's from that period about Jesus, thers plenty of evidence suggesting she MIGHT HAVE had "those special feelings" for him.In fact, i love the fact that JCS had the balls to show that!

reply

Agreed. And even if you did find the real Jesus sexy (which he probably was/is), he is the Savior and that's what counts.

Jesus (not Ted) can does and will save me any time.

I know that some of you may wish Ted-the actor-has the same or similar qualities as the REAL Jesus (I suppose that can go with any flavor actor you wish), and in some ways he may but remember Ted is only human, Jesus is God. That's the difference.

reply

And you never heard of The DaVinci Code? Good because that is the comparison I'm getting at.

Not true, and you know it. True Mary was a devout follower and was at the crucifixion but it there was no love in the love as sex love.

As a guy, I didn't find him all that appealing, especially his eyes.

reply

I thought he was incredibly sexy.

reply

Yes, it's wrong. Very, very wrong. Jesus in this movie sexy? Come on, he's a whiny, petulant self-absorbed jerk! Now me, I'd pick Mary as sexy, but then again I am a heterosexual male. But if you held me at gunpoint and told me I had to pick a male out of the cast to have sex with, it'd have to be Pilate. I mean, those purple Roman robes, the wealth, the power, combined with the basic decency of not wanting to sentence this innocent man... plus his great sarcastic comments to the idiot mob. I think you should consider Pilate sexy.

reply

I dunno...Herod seemed pretty comfortable with his body and his sexuality. Pontius really seemed a bit stiff, in my opinion. He'd be like doing Felix Unger.

If Jesus was tempting to a prostitute, I'm sure he's tempting to just about everyone else. He was designed to be a vision of perfection...though asians hispanics and black people probably find that pretty wrong.

reply

If you think Ted Neely is gorgeous, sexy, the greatest actor alive today and all the other infatuations...wait until you see the REAL Jesus (yummy)!

Ted Neely is just an ordinary man, with flaws just like the rest of us. He is not perfect, and certainly not Jesus...not even close.

That being said, I hope Ted (and so shall we all) be with the REAL Jesus someday.

I know your post is old, but I just saw JCS and I had thought about posting the same thing, almost word for word. I don't think the other posters on this thread really get what you meant. I think I do. You were having a bit of fun with the idea of finding "Jesus" hot, while knowing that it is really the actor that is attractive and that you did not seriously mean you find the real Jesus sexy.

reply

Why couldn't the real Jesus be sexy? He was a man. He was circumcised.

Don't say it is because he was a virgin. Tim Tebow is a virgin and many women find him sexy.

If God didn't want Jesus to be sexy he wouldn't have sent him in the prime years of a young man's life.

God could have made Our Savior in various other forms: a chubby old man, a shrivelled old lady, a paraplegic, a leper, a burning bush, a pillar of flame. Wouldn't the message be the same?

There is no reason to make Our Saviour a hot young guy unless that was part of the message. Right? (be honest)
