YOUR FAVORITE EUROPEAN WESTERNS

Which of the European westerns do you like the most, including German or
other Euro-weterns ? Favorite Euro- cowboys, Jean-Louis Trintignant, for
example ?

Sergio Leone apart, I would say:

- The great silence, A gun for hire & Django, by Sergio Corbucci.

- Face to face & The big gundown, by Sergio Sollima.

- Tepepa & Death rides a horse, Giulio Petroni.

- Django, kill! by Giulio Questi.

- Day of Anger, by Tonino Valerii.

- A bullet for the general, by Damiano Damiani.

If I had to choose one and just one of those films, I'd go with "Tepepa" by Petroni. It's the best of all the so-called "Zapata westerns" I have seen, and easily my favourite non-Leone spaghetti western.

But all of these films are absolute must-see for western aficionados.

My special favorite European western is Lemonaid Joe. The original Czech title is Limonádový Joe Aneb Konská Opera. When I first saw it, it was dubbed in english and titled The Lemonaid Kid. It's sort of a musical comedy satire, very well done. The DVD is available from Amazon in Czech with english subtitles.

A rare Italian western that I hope to see one day is A Long Ride From Hell. It stars Steve Reeves, so it has to be good. Right?
