American actors spoke English. Italians, Italian. Languages were dubbed, depending on where they were going to be released, in post-production or call-backs. It happens all the time.

so when they say language italian in the additionnal detail they mean mainly italian
thanks anyway
Thanks for the info.
I would swear i read somewhere spagetti westerns were shot originally in italian, so i imagined Clint Eastwood speaking italian with a terrible accent. :-)
I dont know about this movie, but "the good, the bad and the ugly" was in Italian. There's even a special feature about this in the dvd.
shareI'm quite sure that both Fonda and Hill spoke English on the set, and several others don't seem to match the Italian soundtrack at all either. I think the question would be if the script lines were in Italian or English, or both?! As far as I know back then they would always redub the soundtrack depending on the market as the original audio from the set isn't useful.
I would go against what the language info says. If you watch this in Italian you would not get the "original" language at all.
