I'm about to head off for a trip to Jamaica so I figured I review the country's best film. Check out the review for The Harder They Come on my site and let me know what you think. Thanks for checking it out and enjoy.
Nice review. I would disagree with a few things though, mainly that Ivan was turned criminal by his situation, I think Ivan was always gangster criminal, it was below the surface waiting to emerge.
The gritty realistic aspects of the visual film you mention were not intentional, if you read up on what Henzell went though to get this film on screen you'll understand the look of the film, which in the end was unintentional, but worked out perfectly.
Be careful if you going to be near Kingston man, there be a situation there you know. ;-)
